DE-ICING OF CULLET

The cullet which are stored outdoor in winter have a high proportion of ice and snow. This often leads to problems in the charger and in the furnace.

Warm air from furnace building is further heated by a special designed heat exchanger and is than delivered into the cullet silo where in special designed channels the ice melts.

On an existing waste gas duct this specialdesigned heat exchanger can be upgraded easily. With a great success the performance of the concept was demonstrated at Ardagh Glass in Nienburg.
